Eighth Grade Parents
Dear Class of 2021 Students and Parents,
The end of your eighth grade year is fast approaching and you will soon be walking the halls of Northwest High School as a member of the class of 2021. In an effort to help prepare you for the high school experience, we would like to invite you to attend our 8th grade transition night on Thursday, March 16 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school cafetorium.

The transition night marks the beginning of what will be the fastest and best four years of your life, your high school years. We have scheduled a program that will serve many purposes: the first purpose is to introduce you to some of the key personnel at the high school that will be with you every step of the way along your journey to answer any questions that you may have and provide the support you may need during this exciting time. You will also be able to hear from several students about their experiences here at NWHS. I encourage you to listen to their stories as all of these students have been very successful and can offer you sound advice as you enter your freshmen year.

Parents, the guidance staff will have a presentation for you about all of the wonderful opportunities available here at Northwest High School and at the end of the presentation will be available along with the high school administrators to answer any specific questions that you may have about your son/daughter’s education. During this time, the students will view a video created by our Advanced Broadcasting students, as well as listen to a presentation by the administration discussing key parts of the transition from the middle school to the high school.

Finally, we will all meet back in the cafetorium to answer any questions you may have as well as for a little fun to end the evening. If you should have any questions, please feel free to contact any member of the high school administration or guidance staff.  We hope that you find this evening informative and enjoyable and we look forward to a great next four years.
Welcome to Northwest High School... Class of 2021!!!

Kidder 7th Grade Girls Basketball                                 2/21/17
Game 10 Announcements
The 7th grade girls made the cross-town trip to Western.
The B-team played another scrappy and aggressive game.  They did a nice job of trying the ball to the paint on offense.  Kaylee Reynolds, Tomiah Cowper and Nevaeh Yenne led the charge on offense and as usual, Nevaeh racked up a few more steals on defense.  Coach’s award for the game go to Madison Taylor and Sydney Starnes for their defensive efforts in last night’s game.  While the Mounties lost to Western, they made significant improvement since the last time the teams met.
The A-Team was short two people last night due to illness.  Fortunately, Savannah Anderson was able to return to the lineup so the Mounties could put five girls on the court.   The Mounties gave it everything had.  They played a tough defense against a faster Western team and were relentless in trying to score on offense.  Coach’s award for the game to Chloe Hinkley who stepped up and played Point Guard all night, to Bianca Bush and Savannah Anderson for their efforts on defense and to Leah Alfred and Aspen Tapley for their hard work in the paint last night.   The A team Mounties lost to Western as well, but also have made tremendous progress over their first meeting.
8th Girls’ Basketball: Game 10
FEBRUARY 21, 2017: Western
(B) Black Team Won: 41-34; (A) Red Team Won: 43-23
The Northwest Kidder Middle School Ladies’ Black and Red Basketball teams EACH clinched at least a share of their I-8 League Titles by remaining UNBEATEN after two hard-fought home games with Western.
The Black Team trailed 2 – 8 early in the second quarter, but fought back to take a 10 point lead near the end of the third period.  Western CLAWED back and trailed by only 3 points, 27 – 30, before the Mounties finished strong to put the game away to win by 41 – 34.  Coach’s Awards go to McKayla Eldred, Victoria Craft, Mia Givens, and Lucy Nurkka.  McKayla, Mia, & Lucy combined for 34 of their team’s 41 points.  Victoria, the best on-ball perimeter defender on the team, slowed down Western’s two QUICK point guards enough to help her team get the win.
The Red Team played their BEST basketball of the season early in the game.  Their CRISP press and EFFICIENT half-court offense CATAPULTED them to a quick 14 – 0 lead against a SOLID Western team.  The Mounties never looked back and walked away with a 43 – 23 victory.  Coach’s Awards go to Madison Neitzke and Abbey Christner.  Madison, arguably the MOST IMPROVED player from last year to this year, is a JACK-RABBIT on the court.  She played her best game of the season with many steals and buckets.  Abbey “brings her lunch pail” to every practice and game.  She played OUTSTANDING perimeter on-ball defense against some of Western’s best players and played her heart out every second she was on the floor.
