Sponsored by NW Community Schools
During the holiday season, NW Community Schools will be adopting several families within our school district and helping to make their holidays special. We would like to invite you to help us.

Here is how the process works:

  1. Browse through the ornaments on the tree and read the “gifts” on each ornament. Each ornament represents a portion of the needs of one of our families.
  1. Please turn donations to ANY NW Community Schools’ building office by Wednesday, December 13.
  1. Monetary donations and gift cards are also kindly accepted.
Please help make someone’s holiday unforgettable.

NW BOYS’ BASKETBALL
7th A Basketball November 29 Game
To start the second half of the season the 7th grade A team improved their record to 7-0. Defense has been the strong suit of the team. They have held opponents to under 40 points 5 out of the 7 games. Last night the boys beat Lumen Christi 56 to 29 with Duncan Moffit leading the way scoring 23 points right near his season average. Casey Davis and JR Morrow also made large contributions also scoring in double figures. JR Morrow lead the team in steals last night with 7 in total. All players have contributed much to the team throughout the season. Landon Little recognized the quote of the week in practice on Tuesday which is the “The Team, the team, the team.”

The 7th Grade Boys B team Basketball squad roll to 7-0 on the season with 51-16 victory over Lumen Christi on Wednesday. The Mounties got off to a quick 17-2 first quarter start and did not look back from there. The lead stretched to as many as 31 during the third quarter run.  Jacob Omans and Ashton McIntosh paced the Mounties scoring in double figures each.  Jordan Perez and Braylon Adams each put in quality minutes and help push the Mounties over the top.  Next game is Home against Coldwater on Monday.
Game 7: November 29, 2017
Home: Lumen Christi
B Game: Won 49 - 30
A Game: Won 55 – 23
The KMS 8th Grade Black Basketball Team improved to 6 – 1 with a hard fought win at home against Lumen Christi, 49 – 30, setting up what will be a BATTLE for first place next Monday in a rematch at Coldwater, who is the only team to have beaten the Mounties this season.  The game was tied 8 – 8 at the end of the first quarter.  Then KMS began a man-to-man press that proved to be the difference.  Coach’s Awards go to Keegan Vowels, Grant Quinn, Damein Milliman, and Javier Campbell.  These four OUTSTANDING Mountie young men work HARD every day in practice, have GREAT ATTITUDES, and have all played IMPORTANT roles in the team’s success so far this season.  Grant and Damein continue to improve every day.  Both are good shooters.  Keegan is a “fire cracker” on the defensive end of the floor and has solid offensive skills.  Javier is athletic, experienced, and fluid on the court.
The KMS 8th Grade Red Basketball Team is now 5 – 2 and solidly in second place in the league standings after avenging an overtime loss at Lumen Christi the first game of the season.  The Mounties pressed right away, jumped out to an 18 – 6 first quarter lead, and never really looked back as they won easily, 55 – 23.  It was their best team defensive effort of the season, as they held one of Christi’s best players to 6 points after he torched KMS for 20 points the first time.  Coach’s Award recipients are Ashton Golightly, Jermaine Buckner, and Dylan Leutz.  Ashton consistently played SOLID defense and ALWAYS brings a level of TOUGHNESS to the court that can’t be coached.  Jermaine played very UNSELFISHLY, passing up decent shots to look for his teammates.  Dylan played his best game of the year, scoring 7 quick third quarter points, including a 3-pointer.  Dylan had NEAR misses on at least two other 3-pointers that “danced” around the rim.
